Assembly & Convention Activities
It was the custom of early Christians to meet together, generally in small groups. However, sometimes at their gatherings “quite a crowd” would assemble. (Ac 11:26) There are two types of assemblies of Jehovah's Witnesses where local congregations meet together in larger groups and are held three times a year.

First there is an assembly made up of several local congregations that are combined to create a circuit. This one day circuit assembly is held twice a year. These spiritual events are smaller versions of the second type of assembly called a regional convention that is held annually. Regional conventions are usually held for three days and combines several circuits into one region or district. In addition to supplying life-giving waters of truth from God’s Word, the Bible, our annual conventions and assemblies provide an opportunity for us to “widen out” in our associations. (2 Cor. 6:12, 13)

Circuit Assembly - Meeting Chairman
Jehovah is a God of order, and expects orderliness from his people.
(1 Corinthians 14:33) Above, George was granted the privilege to serve as chairman at a circuit assembly.
The primary responsibility of the assignment of the meeting chairman at an assembly or a local congregation meeting at a Kingdom Hall is to ensure the following:
The program starts and stays on time & is run in an orderly fashion, make any needed announcements, and introduce the various speakers on the program including the opening and closing songs & prayers.

Regional Convention Assignments

The Chairman's Office handles behind-the-scenes speaker related administrative aspects of the regional convention program,
including rehearsals and a walk-thru.

George participates in a walk thru before delivering the convention assignment.
The specialized ministerial training received by enrollment as a student in the Christian Life and Ministry Meeting can prepare anyone who applies themselves regardless of their background and education to: Teach others via one on one tutoring, lead question/answer discussion sessions, and deliver speeches or talks to both small groups or crowds numbering into the thousands.
Quite a few years ago, George was able to deliver his first regional convention lecture at the "Give God Glory" convention to a crowd of over 5,000 people by means of the ministerial training and spiritual education received through the Christian Life and Ministry Meeting. Regional convention program content is much more than lectures. Each year’s program promises an interactive approach, incorporating meaningful and exciting video features, personal interviews, and usually at least one short film.
Each day, the morning and afternoon sessions are introduced by music videos recorded for the convention. Prior to the event, Jehovah's Witnesses around the world will also participate in a global campaign to invite the general public to attend the program free of charge.
Regional Convention Volunteers

Delegates that attend regional conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses not only come to enjoy the spiritual program but they also volunteer to work in various departments needed to help facilitate the operation of the convention. Stephanie and George have volunteered to work is areas such as: Parking, Cleaning, Sound, Chairman's Office, First Aid, etc..
One additional example of a department George and Stephanie have had the privilege of working in was the Media Services department. Media Services has the responsibility of working with the TV, radio, and print news media to promote attendance to the regional convention in the community. The department is also responsible for organizing any interviews or news articles regarding the convention.
