How did they meet? Let’s see, which version should we tell? Stephanie’s? George’s? Or what really took place. Let’s opt for what really took place which is somewhere in the middle. By the time both Stephanie and George were in their early twenties they were attending the same congregation. They were among a group of young adults that associated socially as well as did spiritual things together.

However they both had different views about most things at that time: If he liked blue, she liked red and visa-verse (Was that because they really liked each other and did not want to admit it? ... Who knows). At first neither thought their relationship would be more than a spiritual friendship. Well as they say, “opposites attract”.

Threefold Cord

Taking the Vows

Exchanging Rings

Kissing the Bride

It's Official !

After being just friends for a number of years both began to feel that the other was unique and different from the other members of their friendship group in a very appealing way.

Friendly conversations  started to became serious discussions on viewpoints, goals, and  priorities. This led to dating, an engagement, and ultimately marriage.  George and Stephanie were married on December 13, 1986 at 6:00 p.m.

The wedding was small and simple with just family and a few close friends.  The marriage ceremony was officiated by one of the elders in the congregation. A talk was given using the bible to explain the spiritual expectations for both the husband and the wife. The goal being to make God the major cord in a threefold cord arrangement. (Ecclesiastes 4:12)

Both would agree that two of the greatest assets to the success of the early years of their marriage were:

[1] Both agreed to follow bible principles and worked to have a relationship with God and follow the example of Jesus Christ to the best of their abilities.

[2] A congregation elder and his wife agreed to discuss various topics dealing with marriage with them that included how to use bible principles to resolve marital  issues. The elder and his wife opened up their lives and hearts to them for which George and Stephanie are forever grateful.
