The Ministry
Many are familiar with Jehovah's Witnesses trademark method of "Door to Door" or "House to House" witnessing based upon the examples of Jesus and his apostles (Luke 8:1, Acts 5:42, Acts 20:20).
However Jehovah's Witnesses engage in various other types of witnessing: via phone or through the use of video conferencing; email, texting, or letter writing; public witnessing in parks, airports, bus stations, local businesses, and other public places, etc... Basically they preach whenever and wherever people can be found.

"Witnessing" or to "give a witness" is a theocratic term directly related to the preaching and teaching ministry of Jehovah's Witnesses. Just as a witness in a courtroom would give witness or testimony regarding the facts of a case or situation that they have observed or provide evidence on the character and personality of individual, Jehovah's Witnesses give testimony or witness about what the bible says about God and his purpose for mankind.
In fact their very name "Jehovah's Witnesses" is based in scripture at Isaiah 43:10 where God said "You are my witnesses declares Jehovah. Yes, my servant whom I have chosen." Further scriptural evidence of the appropriateness of the use of the spiritual term "witness" can be found at Revelation 1:4 where Jesus himself was described as "the Faithful Witness".
Door to Door Ministry or "House to House" Witnessing

In the pictures, Stephanie and George participate in the House to House ministry. Jehovah’s Witnesses are known worldwide for the door-to-door preaching work they do. (Acts 20:20) It enables us to “search out” deserving ones in a systematic and orderly way. (Matt. 10:11)
Jehovah’s Witnesses have used this method so extensively that it has become our trademark. Jesus taught people publicly and in their homes. People are generally more relaxed at home. Speaking with them face-to-face hearing their voice, seeing their facial expressions, and observing their surroundings allows Jehovah’s Witnesses to discern their interests and concerns.
It usually gives us the best opportunity to engage in extended conversation. Jehovah’s Witnesses are known all over the world for their following the apostolic pattern, the house-to-house ministry.
Witnessing at a Nursing Home Facility

Many people are facing the debilitating effects of advancing age. (Eccl. 12:1-7) Some older ones live in nursing homes, so it is not always possible for Jehovah's Witnesses to reach them through house-to-house preaching.
Although perhaps limited in mobility or memory, elderly ones and others who live in nursing homes may still be able to learn about, appreciate, and come to love Jehovah. As shown in the picture, Stephanie and George are among several publishers in their local congregation that regularly visit a local nursing home to witness to the staff, patients, and their families.
Informal Witnessing on the Train on a trip from Chicago to San Diego

In the picture, Stephanie takes advantage of a Informal Witnessing opportunity with an Amtrak employee on the train traveling from Chicago to San Diego.
Informal witnessing involves sharing the good news with people whom we meet in our daily activities when traveling, visiting relatives or neighbors, or shopping, as well as at school, at work, and so forth.
Much of the witnessing that Jesus did when he was on earth was of this kind—as he walked along the seashore, sat on a hillside, dined at someone’s home, at a wedding, or in a fishing boat on the Sea of Galilee.
