Foreign Language Class

Many Jehovah’s Witnesses have taken up the ministry in a foreign-language field when they observe the fine response to Bible truth. Others feel invigorated when their service becomes more challenging and interesting. To fulfill this growing need, foreign language classes have been sponsored and provided by the Jehovah’s Witnesses organization to train individuals desiring to expand their ministry in this way.

The class was held at a local Kingdom Hall in Jacksonville, FL.

Tagalog Search Work Preaching Campaigns

Jehovah's Witnesses take so seriously the importance of finding people of various languages in order to teach them bible truths that they organize "Search Work" preaching campaigns in addition to their normal preaching activities. "Search Work" involves making inquiries to locate those who speak a specific language. How is this done?

A systematic arrangement is set up to first do preliminary research, perhaps using a directory or the Internet to gather names common in the language. Then the search work is done by means of phone calls or visits to determine which addresses should be included in the foreign language territory.

When making "Search Work" visits there are often cultural traditions or preferences noticeable about the outside of the home visited that may give an indication of the specific language population that resides there. For example, when searching for Tagalog speaking individuals, Stephanie and George developed a "Search Work" document that included clues to look for when attempting to find Filipino homes.".
